Position Overview

As a GIS Specialist, you will design, develop, and maintain cutting-edge GIS applications and systems using ESRI technologies. You’ll collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system performance, manage geospatial data, and optimize workflows for enhanced operational efficiency.


Key Responsibilities

  • Application Development: Design and implement GIS solutions using ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Pro, and ArcGIS Server.
  • Collaboration: Partner with project managers, analysts, and developers to gather requirements and translate them into technical specifications.
  • System Administration: Manage user accounts, permissions, and ensure compliance with security policies in a multi-server environment.
  • Data Management: Create, process, and analyze geospatial data for consistency and accuracy.
  • Workflow Optimization: Develop and refine GIS workflows to improve efficiency.
  • Visualization: Build interactive web mapping applications and data visualization tools to present geospatial information effectively.
  • Support & Troubleshooting: Provide technical assistance to ensure high system availability and performance.
  • Documentation: Maintain system configurations, procedures, and user guidelines for operational transparency.
  • Innovation: Stay updated with emerging GIS technologies to recommend system enhancements.

What You Bring

Basic Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree with 4+ years of relevant experience (or equivalent work experience).
  • Technical Proficiency:
  • Expertise in ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, and ArcGIS Server.
  • Familiarity with programming languages like Python, JavaScript, or SQL.
  • Knowledge of geospatial data formats, data management, and cartographic principles.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Strong problem-solving and independent working abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Experience with agile and waterfall development methodologies.
  • Work Flexibility: Availability to work some weekends as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Public sector experience, especially with utilities or energy-focused projects.
  • Familiarity with cloud-based GIS platforms.
  • Experience using ServiceNow or other case management software.
  • Knowledge of database management systems like Oracle or SQL Server.
